The gift of Hospitality

The ability to joyfully create an environment that welcomes others, puts them at ease and helps them to feel cared for
  • I enjoy having guests to stay in my home
  • I believe my home should be a place of welcome for others
  • I enjoy it when my home is filled with people
  • I often invite people for coffee or meals at my home

"God sets the lonely in families." [Psalm 68:6]

External to church..your home is probably a place where others find welcome and comfort. You may be able to build good relationships with neighbours or across the divides of age, race or background. You may use your hospitality to support people who are under stress. You may even consider fostering a child, providing respite care or joining an organisation such as Nightstop, which provides support and a bed for the night to young homeless people. Simply getting to know people and making them feel cared for may encourage some to take their first steps to knowing and accepting Jesus.

Within church..there are many opportunities to use your gifting to contribute to the life of St. Peter's:

  • there may be people who would welcome being invited for a meal because they live alone or are under stress
  • you may offer to provide accommodation or meals for visitors
  • you may be able to host a home group or another meeting
  • there are often requests for food to be provided for special events
